CLIFTON MARINE CLUB

Welcome to Clifton Marine Club

Nestled in the charming coastal community of Te Awanga, the Clifton Marine Club is where salt-air, fishing passion, and friendship meet. Founded in 1960, our club began with 27 boats registered at £1 each. Since then, we’ve grown—but our spirit of open-sea adventure remains unchanged.

Where We Are

Te Awanga sits on Hawke’s Bay’s eastern shores, roughly a 15-minute drive from both Hastings and Napier. The region is celebrated for its sunny climate, outstanding food and wine, striking art deco architecture, and spectacular natural scenery.

Our closest neighbour is Cape Kidnappers / Te Kauwae-a-Māui, famed for its dramatic coastline, world-class golf course, and what is often termed the world’s largest and most accessible gannet colony.

What We Do

At Clifton Marine Club, we’re not just about fishing — we’re about sharing the sea. Our members can guide you through converting your trailer to a floating trailer — so you too can launch from the beach and park your boat right on the ocean edge, enjoying views few get to see.

We host fishing competitions, outings, share local knowledge, and welcome people who love the water as much as we do.
